How much stock do residency programs put into MCAT scores? Do some programs require you to report it? I was accepted to Ross but was wondering if I should take the MCAT again because my score stunk and programs may want to know what it was. Any one have insight into this?

Residency Programs!?! Nowhere on my ERAS application was I asked to report my MCAT score. More importantly, at no time was I asked on any residency interview about my MCAT. The only test scores they will ever discuss with you is STEP I and II. Or to put it it more succintly.....In my experience with the residency process, the MCAT didnt mean diddlysquat!!! Cheers!!

Really nice to hear that!! I never want to discuss my MCAT score!

The only place I actually say an MCAT requirement was on the Kern County clinical rotation application. I doubt they use that score anyway.

Since you mentioned your application to Kern, I was curious what scores you need on USMLE 1 to apply, how many Ross students they take, if students from California are given preferrencialo treatment, can you start at Kern any time of the year. Finally can you do all you rotations both core and electives at Kern?

Thanks.

Singer, that information can all be found on their website at www.kernmedicalcenter.com under the medical education section.

From what i hear..it looks like the spots have been filled up. Currently a lot of competitive scores on Usmle that Ross students are getting have bumped up the criteria at Kern.

But as Mitch stated..the website may have more info.
