How's the island looking since the hurricane?
Is school as demanding as you thought?
Good things so far?
Bad things so far?

Any overall advice for students coming in Aug '05?

Classes start tomorrow so I can't really tell you about professors and how demanding the school is. What I can tell you is that judging from orientation, these people at SMU are amazing. I can't believe they're so nice and so caring towards their students. Things are pretty easy to get done around here. The bank and cell phone company came to the dorms which made it really easy to open an account and get a cell phone although the lines were crazy. There's a shuttle that takes students to school and back for a small fee. Some of the dorm rooms are really small but those are probably the rooms that are meant to be for one person only. At orientation we found out SMU buys a 50 person membership to the gym so everyday the first 50 people to go, don't need a membership which is pretty cool. Things are expensive and without a car, it would be hard to get around. My advice would be to get all the administrative stuff and paperwork out of the way before getting to Cayman and that includes ordering your books. BTW my books were delivered as promised by the bookstore which makes the $80 shipping charge not so painful. Cayman is much better than any other island I've been on. Good luck

What's up,

Everything mentioned in the previous response is correct. The island is wonderful, as are the faculty (I've met thus far), and all the perks of attending St. Matt's. The local bank also comes to the residence hall, they make setting up a checking account REALLY easy. Today is the first day of class, I'll give you more updates later! :P

Hello,

Review some anatomy if you have time. But basically just relax and have fun. Things will get really difficult once you start.
Honestly, I love it here. The people and the SMU staff are really friendly. The supermarket is a short walk from the RH and being from NY, i did not notice the prices being any different.

i agree with NYC27. the professors are great and very approachable. the students are nice especially NYC27. its a good idea to look over some anatomy before you get here but dont study too much. believe me you'll have plenty of time to study once you're on the island. overall, im happy with my decision of attending SMU.
