This might have been asked before but I am curious, back in 1996, after my freshman year, I was put on academic suspension for low GPA. I just didn't go to my classes and basically failed out. I went back to the same school 2 years later and made mostly straight As since w/ a couple of ** in my nursing classes. I graduated 2003 w/ double Bachelor's in Psychology and Nursing (no honors though since the suspension made me ineligible for that). I worked in the intensive care unit straight out of school as an RN. I took the MCAT and scored 30 (only studied for 2 weeks for this one so I am retaking in August, and I have not taken Physics and O. Chem, taking accelerated courses this summer). Would the suspension weigh so much in my applications or would the upward trend coupled with good recommendations, volunteerism etc balance this out.
Any help is appreciated.

As a person who came back from a really bad start in college, let me congratulate you for going back and doing what needed to be done. While your academic suspension might raise a few eyebrows on the application, I don't think it would, by itself, preclude your being admitted to a good school. It seems you came back from a tough situation and showed not only that you can handle the academics, but you know how to extricate yourself from a bad situation and move forward.
Just be open and honest about your situation and you should be okay.
Best of Luck!
