Hey Guys!
I've been doing some search on more or less affordable private schools for my dtr, who will be 7 yo (2 nd grade) by the time I start in august. So far I haven't been able to find anything that's reasonably priced. I've stumbled upon one school that wants about $11,000 US for one school year  .And it didn't look like they are affiliated with Harvard
Could some parents out there please shed some light on this one :?: Any advice/links are greatly appreciated. :D

Hi Billydoc,
I am looking at the new resident guide right now, did you get one? They mention Cayman Academy at $2,310CI annually, Grace Christian Academy at $7,000CI annually, Montessori by the sea at $6,615CI annually, Truth for Youth School at $275CI per month, St. Ignatius school at $4,547CI per year, Cayman Prep at $4,480CI per year, and there are a few others. I hope that helps, PM me if you would like more info.

Hi *****!
Thanks for a tip :) I got accepted back in late November'04 for Jan'05. So I did look at New Resident guide, but not recently. Although I must say $6000-7000CI is way up there (matching daddy's tuition at SMU  )
Thanks again

Dividing up some of the schools by 12 months (realizing that there are breaks), you've got in CI

Cayman Academy (Cayman National Curriculum): 192.5
Grace Christian (American Curriculum): 583.34
Cayman Prep (British): 374.34
Cayman International (American): 950
First Baptist (American): 389.08
Triple C (American): 340.83
Wesleyan (American): 220.84

I hope that helps!

A little bump :)
Could some of the current students with school-aged kids give us some ideas on school options. We did some of our own HW, but really would like to hear from some who have done it rather than theoretical possibilities.
Thanks all in advance.
Please pm me :)

Hey there.
I had done all the homework on private elementary schools on Grand Cayman. My kids were almost enrolled into Cayman International. You would want to talk to Wendy Foreman there. She is very quick in responding to your questions.Or email them at cayis@candw.ky
As far as I know, they were asking me for 1500 US for my nine year old and 500 for my three year old. And that was just for the enrollment deposits. Then it was going to cost me about the same in US dollars each month for their tuition. So instead I opted to leave them at home with the rest of the family and use their tuition money towards my tuition and towards airfare to fly back and forth to cali to see them every three weeks. I tried to take them with me last semester when we were up in Maine, but it wasn't working well. and the students who were across the hall from us were always partying so my kids never got enough sleep to make it to school on time the next day. So let them be comfortable at home and keep them in the school they are used to. It will be a lot easier than to uproot them and have them get used to new routines and such. Because the schools in cayman begin around 9 or 9:30 am, and the classes at SMU start at 7:30am sharp. You are lucky if you have someone to watch them while you are in class. Best regards and hope everything works out.

Thanks for your repply momMD2B!

Yeap, as hard as it may be to leave your kids back home, that seems to be the only viable option for us. After all, I've done it before. So if my family still found their way to visit me in Dominica (of all places   ),then GC should not be a problem at all :D
Thank You again
