From what I have been able to gather, SABA currently offers the Teri Loan as well as the healthXpress student loan. More can be found out through their website. Teri loans are based on your credit score, with a minimum of 650 to be approved. However, if you do not have a cosigner with you, the maximum amount they will loan you is $25,000 per year, which in SABA's case is 2 semesters. I do not really know if this is a doable amount but hopefully one of the current students there right now can shed some light on this. With a cosigner, Teri will loan you more, probably around the area of $45,000 per year. I have yet to hear from someone who have just taken only $25,000 and manage to live on this amount. Good luck...

Allow me to be the first then.

I had the $25,000/2 semesters and lived on it. Granted I was only one person and I did put books and plane tickets on my credit cards (which I am making payments on using said loan). However if you don't need to live an extravagent lifestyle it's doable.

Since I will now be moving around the country I am going to check out this other loan to get more money...gas is just way too expensive, and so are furnished apartments!

Best of luck!

For the TERI loan they do not look at your credit score. I had a 760 and I was still denied for 25000 as an independent borrower. In order to be approved without a cosigner you cannot have any outstanding collection over 200$, you must show that you were employed, I think for at least two years prior to the application, and you must have a stretch of at least 2 years of revolving credit, for example a credit card account.

If you can get a cosigner, which makes things a lot easier, then your co-signer must meet the above criteria, and you as the student applicant simply must prove that you have never defaulted on any previous student loans.

Interesting you say credit score doesn't matter. Do you mean to say that you can have a 450 FICO and still get TERI? I don't know about that...
