Hey is St. Chris working on any research projects? If not, I would like to recommend a research group. I have a good deal of research experience so I would love to be apart of this group. Maybe we can work with King's College of Medicine or any other prestigious medical college in England with their ongoing research. It would be very interesting.
I have done extensive Cancer (Molecular Biology and Biochemistry) Research and Drosophila (Genetics and Microbiology) Research so it would be exciting to start a group like this and to publish the research.

St. Christopher's already has access to research opportunities should a student desire it. Besides doing a masters or a PhD at Luton Univ. you can also set up a limited research project if you can get the proffs/admin to approve it. The areas of research available is here:

Although most of this is for MD/PhD and MD/MSc students, Dr. ***** has said that he wants to build a research center next to our new building (Glouschester house) for faculty and interested students, etc. We share Luton Uni's for the degrees, but he wants one for our own research wims.

nice, i guess i must have overlooked it.
St. Chris is amazing me everyday with something new :D
I know the new building is supposed to be done by Jan 2004, but when do you think all these new facilities will be completed by? Like what month and year are they looking at to be fully operational with all these new improvements?

OH, wow... I don't know that. I am not sure how advanced the plans for the independent research center are. I believe they are still in the talking phase. I am pretty sure that once Glouschester house is up and running in the first quarter of next year, then the talk may advance. One project at a time. Right now Luton Uni's research dept is more than adequate for our needs.

I am interested in researching the long term implications of Ritalin useage in young boys. Analyzing factors such as growth Hormone impairment and possible effects on emotional centers of the brain.
I'll need to ask once I get there.

You may have a hard time with that futrphysician... the british do not use ritalin and won't sell it in this country. I guess thier research already showed that its effects in young kids is negative!!

British research suggested tendencies toward violent negative reactions. I wonder why then, we in America are prescribing this cocaine-like script like it was candy. Why not just give the kids Methamphetamine and be done with it?
I planned on doing most of the group study via a questionaire and such.
Any thoughts? I have 2 peds willing to participate here in Orlando. One in Aventura.

Anything is possible here! If you have a suggestion, just take some time to meet with the director and present your case. They'll work hard to accommodate your wishes. We need more people like you!

The research facility would probably be a distant future project.
We're focusing on the new building at this time.
One step at a time.

I am also very interested in doing research, and I hope to work hard and get accepted into the MD/PhD program in order to do so. I will be glad to work along side with you in a collaborated effort on some project. I will be available in January, if you are available then perhaps we should get together and put together some formal outline on what we would wish to accomplish, and perhaps lead the way. I am currently doing research for my senior project on the effect of treating trauma level burn victims with Epidermal Growth Factor to assess the rate of infection and length of recovery. Let me know when you plan on starting at St. Chris because I know if you even what to apply to do research you should have at least a Bachelors of Science degree.
