There is a ferry...

It's nicknamed "The Vomit Comet"

So, does that mean that I can take it? Customs problems? I have 2 suite cases, is it possible? Thanks

The Ferry is definitely an option, but it only makes the trip four days per week, leaving SXM in the morning and returning in the afternoon. You can usually carry pretty much all the luggage you want and customs is no problem (usually no problem anywhere if you are a US or Canadian citizen).

Flights go over 3 to 4 times daily. From early in the morning to about 5:30. There are no flights after dusk because the airport on Saba has no landing lights. Excess baggage usually costs extra (about 50 cents per kilo if I recall - chechk with Winair).

Cost for ferry and flight is somewhat comparable (depending on what Winair feels like charging), but the ferry is usually just a little cheaper and they have free beer :D ). Only other thing I can think of is that the ferry leaves out of Pelican Marina, so you need to take a $10 cab ride over there.

Best of Luck!

Thanks for the help and info. I will take the Ferry and drink some beer so to wonder about the journey I am taking to this small tropical island. Am I crazy? LOL J/K thanks

the past couple of trips on the ferry has been pretty rough...so if u can't handle rough water...you might want to reconsider...juss thought i'd give a heads up on that...have a safe trip to the island!

Well, the past few days here on Saba have been rainy and windy. The ferry may be more dependable since lots of flights have been cancelled over the past couple days. When I got back to the island yesterday, we circled around the airport a couple of times just to have the bumpiest landing I've experienced here. One gust of wind actually blew us up just enough so that the we couldn't land the first time around.

It's highly unlikely the Edge would sink. Besides you can swimg right? -- If not, I'll ship you my wetsuit and you can wear it just in case- you can just float to the island :D

Well yeah, i guess you could take the ferry.

But! you could be like the other guy around here and try to take the 'fairy'. I think that would be highly interesting.

But that`s just me, and apparently just being me means i`m evil.

Drinking beer is the last thing I'd want to do on something called "The Vomit Comet"!

Don't drink beer in the ferry, in order not to fall off and miss uour bearing. Take flight and save time.

Ferry is better. Your luggages will arrive with you at the same time. The ferry is close the the Bottom.

Well I just got back from St. Maarten..... Sad news in the Beer Fairy's life (mine)..... My personal record was bested by TMI's 11 beers on the journey over. This means war. Anyone else feel like jumpin' in is welcome. If you puke it counts for nothing.

(and in fact I dispute the record breaking because he passed out immediately upon reaching the hotel room- I kept drinking)
