I have a surgery core in Cleveland, OHIO on Sept. 29th. This is supposed to be one of the best curgery rotations Ross has. If anyone has a surgery rotation in NY scheduled already and is interested in switching with me please email me and we can talk.
Thanks,
im sorry to be off topic, but did you list your preferences for clinicals in NY only and got ohio instead?? or did you change your mind. what are the chances of listing all NY sites and get sent somewhere else like ohio, good luck to you...

I don't think you can offer to do "switches" like this. But, I could be wrong.
On a separate note, rumor (and you know how rumors go) has it that there's a huge backlog of students trying to get core surgery rotations (i.e., too many students, not enough spots) in the NY area. If this is true, you better take what you can get! And, Ross better get there ***es in gear and find some more places for students to do their surgery cores, or there's going to be a boatload of people who miss the match next year! I'm just starting clinicals, and I've got a fair level of concern about this already myself. There are horror stories (from the past) about massive scheduling conflicts and huge delays for Ross students. None of the students I've talked to who've recently gotten their clinical assignments have received a placement for core surgery yet. And, I do not want to miss the match in 2005 myself due to some administrative b.s.
I do hope indeed that this is just a typical "Ross rumor" circulating. But, I don't yet have a surgery core placement on my list either...

It sucks for anyone to have to wait, although with situations like this, sometimes it is inevitable, eh? :(
Well Ross let you set up your own surgery core (or any other core or elective for that matter) if they cannot fit you into a site in a timely manner? I mean, many of us come from clinical backgrounds and could easily make a few phone calls to old friends and colleagues and probably get a rotation in a decent hospital. Granted, it may not be Brown or Yale, but it's preferable to missing the Match!
Good luck, and I hope you all find a place to get your clinicals finished in time! :D

I spoke to Dean Perry yesterday and she told me that they were not enough students and too many clinical spots at the moment for 3rd-year cores.

Skip Intro, you recently got your Step 1 results and rotation schedule right? Did Ross give you all ACGME rotations as they claim to do?
