Hello,

I am about to finish my 2nd year in undergrad and almost done with my pre-req's for med school. I was thinking about doing a study abroad semester...mostly for fun...but it wouldn't really be the hardest science classes...would medical schools look down on a study abroad program? It would be after I've taken my MCAT's and after I'm done with all my pre-req's..during my 4th year of undergrad...any thoughts?

thanks

I dont think study abroad will hurt you. IF anything its an experience that you will be able to bring up during interviews. Have fun!

I did study abroad for a term... I think it is definately a plus. As long as you can get all your prereq's in, I say go for it.

Anything that makes your app different (in a positive way) is probably a good thing. Study abroad probably also indicates an ability to adapt to different surroundings and (maybe) learn a new language.

Most importantly, it's a rich and enjoyable experience that will help your personal growth. You have to think about things besides med school once in a while.

Best of Luck!
