Spartan has/had an affiliation with Griffin Hospital which is a Yale affiliate hospital. Griffin is affiliated with Yale and is NOT the university hospital which is in New Haven. However, it is/was a great place to do rotations and the staff, which are all Yale professors, are awesome.
In regard to people getting residency at Griffin. Many Spartan grads have completed and are currently doing residency at Griffin. I know of one grad completing her residency at Griffin today. When their residency is finished, their diploma says that they did their residency at Yale affiliate Griffin Hospital. Yale is put in BIG letters. I got recommendations from Griffin, they read:
Dr. "so-and-so"
Associate Professor
Yale University School of Medicine
It is prefectly fine to mention at which hospital you did your rotations and which University your hospital is affiliated with.... That also helps explain to you PD/employer/evaluator how you obtained your recommendations from Yale or the University of Alabama or where ever... This is important.
On the other hand, for someone to say that they graduated out of Yale when they really graduated from Spartan (such as what the Spartan Nobel Prize Invitee had done) or to say that Spartan Health Sciences is directly affiliated with Yale University School of Medicine would be completely and utterly misleading and wrong. -s&a

I think the best solution for spartan is if they get bought by SMU.SMU has the proper vision, the proper faculty and spartan has licensed physicians in 46 states and 25 yrs history,SMU will reshape the school image and gets automatic approval in KS among long term establishment .

Good post and helpful to know that the papers say Yale. agree about saying one went to Yale is wrong as you point out.

Absolutely the best solution. Or maybe Saba or Ross to buy Spartan.
I do not think that they would ask for more than 15-20 million dollars. -s&a

Not only do we agree but I went a step farther. I wrote a letter to Yale and asked them for their thoughts on how Yale's name is used. We can help folks by showing them what Yale thinks in terms of when it is proper to list them.

I disagree with all of you because you all agreed [opposition party].
the only mission now is for shock to agree with CA officials or the other way around would even be a bonus then I will drink to that.

I'm not quite sure why s&a began this thread, but Spartan is not able to send students to Griffin for rotations anymore. Incidentally, Griffin does still accept students from AUC and St. Chris. I am unsure about Saba and Ross. Obtaining a residency at a particular hospital is often facilitated by a prior rotation there in that specialty. The days of Spartan students obtaining residency at Griffin may indeed be close to over.

I'm sorry you didn't mention where the WMD are ? I am shocked and awed, like Rumsfeilderlo in business alot of times sales are done by variables. Getting Ks would cost you $7/resident at $15 million since there are just above 2 million residents in Kansas. Might be better to buy a school that has California or NY or Texas approvals..interesting business idea though.

True, but also in business, there are proven investments. Spartan makes about 3 million net profit per year, not to mention they have a long history of being one of the first caribbean schools, they have extremely successful grads.. You can advertise that stuff.
All you need is someone who will shape things up, then they can go for all 50 state licensure. The island is pretty nice. There are a lot of opportunities for the right investor. It would take a lot of work, especially in the PR department, recruiting new profs, and getting a quality assurance expert for the students and future grads. The school needs a complete make-over. -s&a
