i need help....i have been accepted into a DO school in the states and also AUC. I HAVE NO IDEA WHERE TO GO!! i am trying to head out to california when i am done with school so that is where i would hope to do my clinicals and residency. i need people to be honest with me and let me know how difficult of a time i would have going to california straight from AUC. and also....are there any schools in the las vegas area where clinicals can be done??? if anyone has any advice or any reasons i should do one or the other please let me know ASAP. thanks a lot and i really enjoy reading the other posts to give me an idea of what island life is like.

Isn't theret TUCOM-LV for DO school? If you're set on going to Cali for Clinicals, I'd probably go with the safe bet and goto a DO school in Cali. There are clinical spots in Cali for AUC but you're not guranteed those spots.

...and your electives could be done in Las Vegas as long as the schools there accept non-LCME students :x

I did find one in LV... I'll start my gastroenterology elective at the Bellagio buffet.

The Alladin has won the "Best Buffet" award something like 5 years in a row. It is ******.

And it was only $125 a person for New Years Eve, too.

I had interviewed at a DO school in PA which felt like the Community College of Medicine. I felt that the cirruculum was glazing over more important courses in order to make room for Osteopathic Manipulation.

Chances of obtaining a more competitive residency are better coming from a US DO school versus a Carrib MD school. However, when it is all said and done, most people don't understand what a DO is. Which will affect your ability to build your practice.

When you are an MD from the carrib, no one is going to ask you 10 yrs later where you did MD school, but people will see the DO after your name throughout your entire career.

I would personnally go St. Georges or AUC.
