Why wouldn't it be possible? It's not like they escort you to the plane when Finals are done. I actually liked staying on the island during breaks, it's the only time I really got to go to the beach and such.

I believe SGU has a policy that you have to buy a roundtrip ticket before attending. Meaning going home during breaks.

we also have to have a RT ticket but it is to satisfy the St. Maarten Gov't and our Visa requirements not to MAKE us go home on break most of us that don't leave every break just keep moving the date back if we couldn't put it far enough out originally...

I bought a round trip 'weekend special' ticket. Never left the island till I headed for Ireland to do cores. Even stayed an extra month or so to study for step one... which I took in Puerto Rico.
Semester breaks are a great time to catch up on gardening and helping the local economy by spending money on EtOH, ribs, steaks,...
