hey.

some people told me that he didn't need a mosquito net, while I read it on here some need to buy one on the island. so what should i do? should i get one here, or buy them once i arrive?

Can people swim naked? or is there a nude beach? Not that i am trying to be a pervert. I am curious.

Also are there any sharks in the water? is it safe to swim alone?

I've never needed a mosquito net and haven't known anybody who has except a couple people from this forum.

I don't think there are any sharks in the water nearby, but you never know.

stupidity is more of a way of thinking which often manifests itself in actions. often not always. stupidity can also be conveyed via the written word, spoken word, or both.

There is an old Chinese saying, very simple, yet very philosophical.

"A bottle of only half full water makes lots of noise, when a bottle of full water doesn't make any sound."

You are trying to talk as if you already know the whole human mind when indeed you are only 21. You haven't even lived half of your life.

you are like that "futurestudentmay03," he proclaimed on here that he will run for student president once he arrives at Dominica last May. Now look at him, he is not even coming for the September class.

stupidity is more of a way of thinking which often manifests itself in actions. often not always. stupidity can also be conveyed via the written word, spoken word, or both.

actually, my life could be over tomorrow, or even when im 42. then i will have lived half my life, huh? besides, that's irrelevant. you know, my real motive behind my statement is simply that you lack any and all verve. for example, above: you're rehashing statements that have been so overused to the point that they're practically cliches because you can't come up with anything new and interesting. next you'll grow a curly, gray bob, put on an old worn out mumu, and shake your finger in my face while you shout, "act your age, not your shoe size!" or "zip your lip!"
ok. thanks, mom! :D

I never had a mosquito net, of course I had screens on my windows (that I rarely opened) and a AC in my place (that I used a lot). The guys who lived next door to me did, but that's because they had neither of the former.

Can people swim naked? or is there a nude beach? Not that i am trying to be a pervert. I am curious.

No. Dominica is a very conservative place. They expect you to dress respectably (i.e., don't even wear a bikini top when you go into town if you're a woman... unless, of course, you want to attract the attention of ALL the local males). Of course, the "no nude" law isn't really enforced, so you might get lucky and see a bunch of naked Rasta bathing in one of the local creeks... if you're into that.

Also are there any sharks in the water? is it safe to swim alone?

Not the kind that bite, at least on the Caribbean side. Just nurse sharks. They are not a threat. I went diving dozens of times while down there and never saw a shark (unfortunately). If you want to see them, you have to go diving in the straights to the north between the tip of the island and Guadaloupe.

nurse sharks do bite. as a matter fo fact, if you check the international shark file(search in yahoo) you will find that nurseys bite more people then every other type. why? because of stupid commenst that sharks dont bite. people then think its OK to mess with them. as for your chances of getting bit by a shark in shark infested waters? buy a lotto ticket. the day you hit the big one...dont dive. coral reefs and lots of little fishys=sharks. i was a king slacker when i was there. in my time, i made over 200 dives. the first full day i was there i saw 3 lemons under the PBH dock. they did waht all sharks do when people are aorund. they left very fast. also saw white tips, black tips, hammerheads(lots of em, and between Dom and martinique, really big ones!!!). never ever felt threatened in any way. dont believe what you see in the movies. if you arent dumping blood, and dont mess with them, ethy would much rather run the other way.

Jim:

According to Big German Mike (a.k.a., the "dive God"), all the sharks around the Carib side have been hunted out of existence by the local fishermen. Personally, I dove all along the Cabrits, Prince Rupert Bay, etc. on the NW side (near the school), down with Harold at East Carib a few times, and even a few times down in Roseau (Scott's Head, Champagne, etc.)... I never (unfortunately) saw a shark.

I generally agree with you about leaving the wildlife alone. You will see a ton of Moray's and sea snakes when you dive, but if you don't mess with them they won't mess with you. And, personally, I was always much more concerned about getting the "business end" of a Moray than I was every concerned about seeing a shark (Morays are VERY curious, after all). I will admit, though, that's the first time that anyone has ever told me that nurse sharks bite. Have a link?

actually, other then the 3 lemons i saw under PBH dock, the sharks seem to shy away from the usual dive sites. they know where the activity is. by dublanc i saw a school of hammerheads though. also in that area anbd around secret beacjh sawa a few blacktips, up to about 9 feet. yes, nurseys are rare aroiund the northern west coast. but i did see a few. usually smallish. the big stuff i saw was always between dominica and martinique. as for the link, i am on call right now, and dont have tiume to hunt, but if you search for "shark attack files" on yahoo, i believe its a page from woodshole or one of the other big oceanography places. they state that more then 95% of nursey attacks are when they are in shallow water and people step on them. in other words, provoked, though not in a maliscious sense of the word.

Preppystud, sometimes you really do post dumb things. I actually think that you do it for attention for some reason. I think that you are still very young and immature and you just don't have anything better to do with your time.

I know sometimes people post not too many nice things to you but you kind of deserve it. :? I mean, who cares about sharks and a nude beach, find out when you get there.

I am not here to bash you but I think sometimes some things are better left unsaid.

Best of luck to you.

none4now, what does your name stand for? it truly doesn't make sense to me.

and don't judge a person so easily, that only showed us how immature that you are.

what made you think that I "post dumb things :?: " whether there is shark in the water affects anyone who wants to swim in the ocean. I thought that swimming naked would be a wonderful way to go back to the nature since dominica is literally a jungle.

you don't care about something, that doesn't mean that someone else won't care, either.

putting your own opinion upon others make you so inconsiderate.

I must agree with none4now and the rest.

You always seem to get on people's bad sides and when confronted you try to save your *** by saying things like "don't judge a book by its cover"...

But in all honesty, I'm pretty sure that the people on this forum including myself have an accurate description of your character. You have not yet developed the mature mindset...

You play too many games with people; for example, why do you send me private messages and tell me my name sounds girlie? As if you were trying to pick a fight with me. But as you will notice I have not responded to your pm, b'c I am avoiding that act of stupidity.. It makes me wonder how many other people have you sent irrelevant pm's to.

It makes no sense to act like this, while pursuing the dream of becoming a physician... The way I see it, is that you must be getting a huge kick out of your childish ways. Please do not continue to fool people on this forum.

I truly hope for your sake that you will eventually grow out of this phase immediately. I want you to realize that it requires a lot to become a physician and even more to become a good one. So if you do wish to continue the dream of becoming a physician, please do so. But most importantly do so by pursuing it professionally....

Take care brother and hope that you reach your goal.

I don't know what you are talking about.

if you are reading my posts, you should know that many people have written on here that private messages are private. For one thing, I don't remember saying that your name is girlie.

However, I do remember, that I asked what kind of surgery you have had. How "immature" I must be to be concerned about your health, someone that I don't know.

Yea, I noticed that you didn't write a private reply, and instead you chose to spread rumors about me.

good for you. I see that ross has one extra back stabbing student on the list.

People are saying that you spelt that word wrong, they are not suggesting that they don't understand you.

It is obvious that you have problems of understanding people's words.

Try: "It is obvious that you have a problem understanding people's words."
or even

"It is obvious that you have problems understanding people's words."

Why would you put an "of" in that sentence.

you know what you should do, you should contact futurestudentmay03, he is just like you. he claimed to run for student president as soon as he arrives in May. now look at him, he didn't show up in May, and he is not coming in September, either.

There is this old Chinese saying, onlf a glass half full of water makes the great noise.

You can't spell, and your grammar is the worst. You know, the way you talk in daily life doesn't mean that you can write them on paper. Just like it is ok to say "you ain't nothing," but you are not gonna find that on any newspapers. Just like, when "your" and "you are" sound similar, but you can't write them interchangeably.

Of course, it should be problems "of" ...., you simply can't omit that "of."
for example, one can say "The problems of which we are facing today is serious."

You need to go back to your elementary school, and find a good lawyer, then sue your own English teacher.
so why don't you tell us what is your written score on mcat?

If you are so clever as to earn a "Q" on the MCAT, then why aren't you clever enough to get into a US med school?

guess I wasn't Q enough.

On the other hand, i feel sorry for your low self-esteem attitude. There is just not enough seats for every qualified applicants. I personally have got a letter from one med. school which stated that I have met their requirements, however, they simply don't have enough time to interview every qualified person.

By the way, I am appalled to see that some idiot insists his grammar mistakes, and continue to think that his "gramer" is correct. I certainly hope that he won't do that on his minis, because professors won't be so forgiving.
