I see that the standard accepted 4.0 scale places everything 80% and above at a 4.0
My university treats 80-81% as a 3.0, 82-86%as a 3.3, 87-91% as a 3.7 and 92+% as a 4.0
My transcript just shows a letter grade and the GPA for each class, but I have never gotten less that 82 in any of my classes, but my GPA shows up as less than a 4.0 average.
Is there anyway to show med schools the difference in the GPA and the standard GPA system?
Thanks

WHich standard are you talking about? The schools I know calculate GPA as >= 90% is a 4.0, >= 80% is a 3.0 etc...which I thought was a standard way of calculating GPA.

I'm using the scale found here http://www.imgi.org/calyourgpa.html

Thats very interesting but when I applied to med school in the US and went to undergrad the scale I mentioned above was what was used.
I wonder where that guy got that info to calculate the GPA like that.
80-89% is B or in some schools 885-89 is B+ which would give you a 3.0 or a 3.3 (B+) but not a 4.0!

In order to calculate your GPA I would recommend contacting individual schools just to verify their scale. But I am pretty sure its not the one that guy is using in your link!

Yeah,

Just looked at the calculator and it is quite flawed for making a GPA calculation for a US school (Could it be a Canadian GPA, since the "author" is Canadian?). Go to the AMCAS website. You can set up an account (for free) that will allow you to calculate your GPA as you fill out an application. Every US college I ever attended made the cutoffs more or less:

A = 90-100
B = 80-89
C = 70-79
D = 60-69
F <60

Best of Luck!
