Salutations:
Does anyone know if SABA plans on having other loan options available besides Teri and the IEFC? Thanks.

I spoke with the financial aid department the other day and they had something coming up. They wouldn't say what it was, but they implied that it would be good. Sorry I don't have more (I'm pretty curious myself).
Best of Luck!

Hmm, interesting. So why do most people stick to Teri then instead of private bank loans? Or am I wrong?

They just put up an announcement today that Student Loan Xpress is going to be working with Saba to offer loans to students. I know nothing else really. I'll keep you updated.

Teri is easier to get, and it's easier to get more money through Teri in general than it is from a bank.

Sweet! Way to go Saba!
Here's the link, ya'll: http://www.healthxpressloan.com/
Just click on "click here to apply online" and then choose Massachusetts as the state on the next page that comes up. Saba and MUA are both listed. This loan looks like a good deal, it's interest rate is only slightly higher than the loan I got from Teri, but they let your cosigner off the hook if you make 48 consecutive on time payments. They have a $300,000 aggregate limit.
This seems much more legitimate than that Paras Foundation loan out of India, since Student Xpress is owned by the CIT group, a well known lender.
Cool. :D

In the letter posted at school today it asked everyone to WAIT before trying to apply. I guess they are still working some things out. It might be best to talk to the fin. aid office rather than bother the people at the toll free number.

SABA UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF MEDICINE & MEDICAL UNIVERSITY OF THE
AMERICAS ANNOUNCE PARTNERSHIP WITH STUDENT LOAN XPRESS
April 11, 2005 -- Saba University School of Medicine (Saba) and Medical University of the Americas (MUA) are proud to
announce an agreement with Student Loan Xpress (SLX) to provide education financing to all eligible students.
Over the next several weeks, Saba, MUA, and SLX will be implementing all the procedural requirements so that our students
and graduates can begin to apply for these wonderful loan products. Once in place, all students and graduates will be notified
that they can begin their loan applications process.
SLX offers loans so students may finance their complete cost of attendance through the Health Xpress Loan. Additionally,
students interested in financing the costs of interviewing and relocating to a residency may apply for the Residency Xpress
loan. Both loans offer excellent credit-based terms and residency deferments of up to four years.
Student Loan Xpress also offers two unique consolidation loan programs: the Consolidation Assistance Program and the Loan
to Learn Private Consolidation Loan.
For students with existing Federal loan debt from their undergraduate or other graduate studies, the Student Loan Xpress
Consolidation Assistance Program can lock in today’s low interest rates for 20 years, while still maintaining the special
qualities of Federal loans.
And for students with credit card balances and other alternative loans which were used to cover education costs and living
expenses, the Loan to Learn Private Consolidation Loan offers interest rates as low as Prime. This loan may greatly reduce
your current interest rates and can offer you an interest-only repayment schedule while you are in-school and in-residency.
And unlike credit cards, the interest incurred from Loan to Learn may be tax deductible.

Saba and MUA are very excited to provide our students with a fantastic resource to finance their education. SLX is a dynamic
company with excellent products and we know this will benefit our respective student bodies enormously.
Again, as a friendly reminder, please do not try to begin the loan application process as Saba, MUA, and SLX are still
implementing all the systems necessary to accept and process loan applications. We know many students need to move
quickly with this program and will notify all students as soon as the systems are in place.

so I called HealthExpress, and they seemed shady to me! The person couldn't understand what I was saying, and didn't seem to know too much about interest rates, guarantee fees, etc...
Salutations "theboss99kk":
I am approved for the healthXpress student loans for the first 3 semesters. My loans will be disbursed early September. Sorry to hear about your experience. Perhaps you may ask to speak to another customer service representative. In either case, they seem to be pretty legit. Good luck. Ciao.
