Hey, I'm new and don't know how med schools work and I heard you have to pull stright A's and be pretty much the perfect student in school. Is this true? Also, I'm an B and C student but my science classes I have always gotten atleast a B and most of them are A's. I goofed off in high school and know I can do better and figure that I can probley get a 3.0 average in college since I will work for it. Do you think that if I have that and get an average score on the MCAT and do my fair share of volunteering do you think I have a shot at getting into med school? Thanks for any help that you can give me.

Getting a 3.0 and average MCAT with or without volunteer experience will make it tough for you to get into a US school. YOu have to do much better than that. But that is enough to get into a Carib school or one of the other international schools. But you should try hard to get into a US school at least 2x before going international. Most of us that are down here tried at leasdt 2 times and then went this route. I had a decent MCAT and GPA but Texas is very competitive for med school and I just didnt have a high enough score.
But once in med school you just work hard you dont have to make straight A's but that should be your goal as well as learning the material well.
Good luck!
