High Speed Internet Access? Can anyone please help me?

Does anyone know if I can get high speed internet access on Saba?

Also, does the school computer lab have high speed access and wireless access as well? Thanks for your help.

Yes, Many students have DSL at home as I do. School also has a computer lab with 15 -20 computers with DSL.

There is no wireless on Campus or anywhere else on the island.

Of course you can be wireless at home if you bring a wireless router to connect to your modem.

The DSL on the island is comparatively slow, but it's the only option available.

How much does DSL Cost at home and how long does it take to get it installed?

My main thing that I want DSL at home is so that I can have a webcam and communicate with my family via internet-phone calls.

Is the DSL so much slower than the DSL in the states?

68 K -> $50
128K -> $80

There is no considerable difference between the above two. The DSL here is actually ADSL and goes through your phone line (hence, you also need to have a land line phone in order to have access to DSL)

I mainly use Skype to communicate with my family back home (the voice conversations are very good!)

We tried utilizing a web cam, but it was just to slow from our end.

is 68k like a little bit faster than a 56k modem? So the 68k ADSL sucks then? isn't 128 considerably faster for voice chatting? This will be my last question regarding High speed internet. Thanks and sorry

I also found that the webcam is really choppy on this end. My family and I resorted to Morse code to talk. When I want to know what's going on in St. Maarten at AUC, I hike up mount scenery with a telescope and use the
semaphore flag signalling system to talk with them.
