They updated saba.edu. Very impressive. I bet it pretty much resembles most low- to mid-tier US schools.

The match list for Saba is indeed impressive. And, the students at Saba have done very well for themselves. But, to say that this match list resembles many low to mid tiered US medical schools is in my estimation ludicrous.

Yes, there is neurosurg, emergency med, anesthesia, neurology, optho on board; however, it is missing other specialities that many US med schools will have people matching in (ENT, Ortho, Derm).

The other thing that is not reflected by this match list is the difficulty in residents acquiring interviews for residency positions. I bet if you ask the majority of the residents if they got interviews to the places they thought they deserved to get interviews at, many will say that they did not. It will be much easier to get interviews coming from a US med school than coming from Saba. That is a fact. THere are still many programs out there that will not look at you regardless of board scores because you are an international medical graduate.

One last point is it would be interesting to note how many people matched into the thing they really wanted to do. In other words, did some people want to do Emergency Medicine but either not have the board scores to apply or get interviews and thus decided to head into internal medicine or family medicine or something else.

Take nothing away from Saba. The students graduating from there have proven they can be successful. However, stating that the match list resembles that of many low to mid tiered US medical schools is in my estimation an uneducated statement.

Let's try to keep this board full of useful information and avoid unnecessary propaganda.

I agree. But it's darn good for a small med caribbean med school on a 5 square mile island. 8)
