For u guys that are at ross right now. Why do u spend so much time on the forum. Don't u guys study. maybe if u study more than u would complain less about how ross sucks.

Some have free time, some have finished ross, some have nothing else to do. Try posting, it's fun, it's addictive, esp. if you are opinionated!

In response to August's post:
Dont judge someone till you walk a mile in their shoes. It's easy to make judgements when you are in the states and have numerous things to entertain you. It is now the end of the semester so their are no activities except for studying. That is all that everyone is doing. I read value md once a day and snorkle for 1 hour a day to relax. When I am not doing that I study 12 hours a day. You can only study so much before your mind turns to mush.

i always think it is funny that when someone complains about the island or ross, they are accused of having academic problems or they aren't studying enough.
med school is hard everywhere and the med students in the states moan and groan just like we do. the only difference is that we get our own forum

I agree 100% with this author. Relax people, it is ok to gripe about Ross. Everybody at every medical school, technical school, high school, bar tending school in the world complains.

almd2b hit the nail on the head.
I am a 4th year who is finished with rotations and is waiting to graduate and start residency. I post on here because back in 2001 when I was researching the school there was a nice little site called Planet Ross where I obtained alot of useful info before heading down to the island. Now, valuemd has picked up the torch and I feel obligated to repay my debt by trying to provide honest, unbiased opinions on what my 4 years at the school were like, etc. If I knew back then what i know now, basic sciences and especially clinicals would have been alot easier. Peace Rossies.

Good luck to the two of you waiting to see the results of the match. I hope you get into the field of medicine that you want. I also agree that a site like valuemd can help both current and prospective students obtain valuable info from current students and concerned parents with various life experiences.

almd2b,
whether we were in the same semester or not, I am sure we know each other. Ross is a small place. Hopefully, match went well for you. Good luck! Its hard to believe this Ross ride is almost over.
Singer,
Thanks for the well wishes. The outcome of match has already been decided. I got my first choice and I am very happy with where I am going.
To the rest of Rossies, hang in there. I had hoped this day would come 4 years ago, and finally, mercifully it has. It can for you too!!! Peace!
Gator,
Were you able to finish Ross within 38 months? If so which class did you start with, Sept-Jan-May??
Glad to hear you got your first choice. You are a "success story".

I could never study all day. I would take a 5 to 10 minute break every hour. what would I do? bathroom, but you can only go so much. so the rest fo the time was on the old planetross forum, and its pre-cursor, which i cant even remember the name of anymore. Now I am in the real wolrd. I am actually post call now, and though I got slammed early yesterday, after about 2 am, it was quiet, and I actually got about 3 or 4 hors sleep. so I am wide awake and bored at home, so i am checking how things are. and being opinionated, as almd2b says.

Jim:
As a parent I want to thank you for a good job in helping some of the current and prospective students on the forum. You have some insight that parents like Dru and myself can't give the students. Of course we have many lifetime experiences and first hand info from pur children that we hope will also help..
Good luck Doc!!

FRNC,
I started on the island in sept 2001, I just finished on april 1st. I had no problems making it thru, passed everything the first time, and kept my eyes on ther prize. Alot of knuckleheads get caught up in the drama down on the island and "decelerate" as St. Georges's calls it. If you are serious, then it is no problem making it thru in the requisite time.
