i think the best way would be airplane.
most folks try to get to newyork or puerto rico then go from there. american airlines or jamaica airlines probably your best bet.

well swimming would not be advisable. you could drown or get eaten by a shark or shrivel up like a prune or bump into other people who didnt take an airplane. also horseback would be unadvisable as well because it will drown. duh. elephants can swim though....

But your luggage will get there faster if you swim or go by horseback as opposed to flying.

i have never lost or had my luggage delayed. i always take air canada from toronto then liat from barbados. some folks who live in the north east fly to toronto to take air canada.
you can take two 70lb bags, 1 30lb carryon, + 1 item of business
and liat will take all that with a smile because they have an agreement with air canada.

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone had flown from DC and what the best/cheapest airline/route is. Thanks! Back to the original post. Look at USAir. They still might fly to grenada. There was a direct philly to grenda flight once a week. Search their site for good deals.

That service was stopped post-Ivan. They were supposed to restart it Mar/Apr, but I haven't heard anything yet.

usairways.com is unable to display service between Grenada, Grenada and Philadelphia, PA. Please contact the customer service center at 800-428-4322 for assistance.
Flights to Barbados are pretty cheap on USair (i assume they're still flying there.) Fly from there to Grenada on a caribbean airlines (about $200 round trip on Liat, Caribbean Star, etc) and you'll have a pretty cheap ticket, although maybe not much cheaper than AA with the school discount.

i was thinking of taking jet blue to san juan from nyc...roundtrip only will cost no more than 300 and than from san juan take AA to grenada...unfortunately that roundtriip tkt will cost 500 and the trip time is only 2 hrs each way...go figure...
what do you guys think?

what do you guys think? If you're going to end up flying AA anyway, just make sure your trip is cheaper than doing the whole thing on AA with the school discount.

That's what I ended up doing, and it did end up being cheaper than the AA Star File.

The best way to get down to Grenada or St. Vincent:
BWIA from Dulles (bwee.com). Direct to Barbados, then get a Liat or Caribbean Star flight to the respective island. You get to leave in the afternoon, and your return from the islands gets you home a little after lunch. By far the most convenient. Screw AA as there layover in SJU (the worst airport in the world) is ridiculous. The only other option is USAir DCA-PHL-BGI. A pain but at least you skip San Juan.
I've been doing this long enough to know.
