I have a 3.08 GPA in Biochemistry and Molecular biology. I have 6 months research experience in a cardiology lab, 4 years (during college) in a molecular genetics lab, 2 years (after graduation) in cancer gene therapy, and will be accepting a position in molecular cardiology for at least another year or 2.

Thanks

I would like to disagree... I think you would need a 35Q and a LOR from the president of your university to get in. Funny how so many students (300 new students every semester) are able to get those but not into a US med school huh

OK I'm just joking you don't need a 35Q but the letter from the president is a MUST.

OK so I'm lying just apply and see if you get in costs you 75 plus travel expenses if you are granted an interview and then in a few weeks or months you'll know. Better than sitting on your bum and not atempting to apply right?

actually I was joking... if you check out SGU website http://www.stgeorgesuniv.edu/website/sguwebsite.nsf/Medicine/EntranceRequirementsMED.htm#require

on what they look for but if you do a search http://www.valuemd.com/search.php

you'll find the answers... also if you look at the accpected thread for Aug 2005 you can see some stats as well but then again you never know if you don't apply

This baffles me. Your GPA is not bad. True, it is slightly below average for admittance to a US school, but you do have a lot of research experience. Why don't you just study your brains out for the MCAT and get into a US Med School? Your GPA isn't so bad that you wouldn't be able to get into a med school in the US if you kicked *** on the MCAT.

Transferring in difficult. From the SGU website:

Advanced Standing Applications
Applications for advanced standing are considered rarely and only for the beginning of the second year. The Board of Admissions does not seek or encourage transfer applications. A candidate seeking advanced standing should write to the Chairman of the Board of Admissions to determine whether an application will be considered. The letter should include the citizenship of the candidate, the prior medical school with years attended, a brief summary of academic achievement and the reason for leaving. Should the Board of Admissions consider the application, the candidate will be notified of the procedures for applications.
