There are some important factors that make a school a good school.

1- Facilities -- Spartan has a base. This last year was a good year, in the sense that they improved themselves with the new campus and expansions.

2- Faculty -- poor rating. They need to improve.

3- USMLE pass rate -- state boards will look at this. For Spartan, this is an unknown. Improvements need to made.

4- State to state licensure -- Spartan needs to take action.

5- USA clinicals -- Spartan needs to establish more better relationships, such as the relationship they have with St. Anthony's in Chicago.

6- Public Relations -- Spartan needs help. The invitation of the St. Lucian Prime Minister to school was a great move.

7- Graduates -- By far, Spartan's strongest point. Licensed grads in 44 states and some are award winning docs in the top of their professions.

8- Student to faculty ratio -- This is an important factor, even in USA schools.

9- Living conditions -- Many foreign schools are in very poorly developed places. St. Lucia isn't the greatest place in the world, but it is a decent place to study.

10- Administration -- It is important to have an administration that will back you up. The Spartan administration is seriously lacking.

By far, the most important factor is state licensure, but without many of the other factors (such as quality facilities, good faculty, successful grads, competent administration, etc, etc), state licensure is impossible. -s&a

you seem to be very realistic person on this forum and I do enjoy reading your messages, very objective and honest messages ,critical and supportive appropriatly. your school has good people but it seems that it needs leadership and reorganizations badly.I have discussions with spartan grad who is the head of ER here and he is one of this hospital medical pioneers and when I come to this forum it seems to me I am in the wrong forum because grads of your school that I met not reflected with comments I read here.I just wanted to tell you that you will make excellent future doctor because you care about others here and the best way to win this battle is to organize and force people to treat your school grads based on qualifications and not school of graduation, and passing USMLE,passing your residency and fellowship directors asssessments and certifications, and passing an approved board certification will certify you as good doctor regardless of what some believe all of that is useless credentialing and waste of time because thank god most educators by far respect and honor all above credentialing boards .
good luck
