There are so many Desi's here that I actually know what Desi means- and I am painfully white. There is a mix of every type of background here at the school. Things are not segregated at all though. I go to Desi night (free dinner), Eid dinner for the muslim student association (food again), Canadian student association meetings (free pizza)- even though I'm american. Numerous muslims and hindi friends came to celebrate easter with me. Don't choose a school based on the number Indian people here, come here because it's a good school.

The Indian Student Association is one of the largest and most active organizations on campus. They host a welcome dinner (open to all students) every semester and host Diwali at the Carnival field every year.
Best of Luck!
BTW - I agree with Nate's post. Stick your neck out a little.
