Can any upper classmen tell me what you need in your dissecting kit. I did not want to buy mine from BIG because I already got my books and there is a $150 min to buy from BIG and the kit is only $75. If I got a kit from another company would this be acceptable for the class and professor? thanks

dissecting kit for anatomy?
$75 - riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiip off.
All we ever used was a scalpel with replacable blade, scissors, and those metal things to grab stuff, can't remember the name.
I think I paid like $20-$25 for mine, which i forgot to pack in bag...
so Puerto Rico Airport Security prob still has it.

u can get one for like $20 from your local medical school bookstore. Maybe it's a little bit more but it's around that area. All u need is a scalpel, extra blades, forceps, probe and gloves. Can any upper classmen tell me what you need in your dissecting kit. by the end of the semester, your dissecting tools will be mingled with everyone else's in your dissecting group anyway...at one time I had two scalpels, no scissors, 3 probes...other times, one probe, no scalpel etc. etc. Basically forceps, a blunt probe, and a scalpel are all you need...and you can get by nicely with just one or two kits per lab group, frankly. Don't spend a fortune on it by any means.

You need those small scissors with very pointy tips.
They're for separating small delicate fibers which is the final step in any dissection.

i got my dissecting kit from www.allheart.com
it was pretty much what I needed. You end up losing all your tools anyway because everyone "borrows" and lose track of who they gave it to after. At first, I would wash my tools everyday and take it home, but it became stinky and a pain to carry back and forth, so I started leaving my tools at the table and the vicious "borrowing" cycle began.
