Hello,

I have been admitted to the May 2005 semester at Saba. We have only found out yesterday that my wife is expecting, her due date would be November.
Right now she is planning on accompanying me to the island, and returning to the US at the beginning of the third trimester to deliver via c-section. Then she hopes to return to Saba after the baby's 6 week checkup.

Is the clinic on Saba adequate for regular pre-natal checkups for a healthy pregnant woman? Is ultrasound available? Flying back and forth to the US would be very expensive, so she will either need to stay on Saba most of the time, or in the US most of the time.

Has anyone gone through pregnancy on Saba? We would appreciate any advice.
No jokes, please.

Thank you for the PM, researchingguy.
Is there a significant others/spouses club that we can get in touch with as well?
Thank you

Several of my friends here have spouses/fiancee/girlfriends on the island and are active in the SOS group. They could provide more info than this site on your problem. I was at the hospital today and got to see the lab, sparse is an understatement. As far as ultrasounds I have no idea. Medical care on St. Maarten is probably a better option. Congrads by the way!

I took this off the Saba.edu website.....
SIGNIFICANT OTHERS OF SABA (S.O.S)
The SOS is a support network of spouses and significant others of medical students and faculty members. SOS members meet all new students with families and provide a survival kit of food and other necessities to help a family through the initial adjustment to island life. They can be reached via email at sos@saba.edu.
