View Full Version : Grading.
Salutations:
I am simply curious as to what the grading scale for Ross is? Do you simply get an H/P/NP or do you actually get a letter grade? And if you do get an H/P/NP, what is the score required to obtain an H or a P? Thanks. Ciao.

You actually get a numeric grade converted to a letter grade which is based on "heavily curved marks from MPS( mimimum passing score). An A would be equivilant to 4.0. You can get a B+ or C+. At the end of 4 semesters you must have a 2.9 or you must take a comprehensive exam. Pass it and on to Miami. Flunk it and stay in Dominica to take a review course (BMSI). If you do a search on valuemd or go to the Ross website and handbook you will learn alot more.

I love how you use the term "heavily curved marks". Come out here and take an exam or two and then tell me how heavily curved our marks are.

When my son was on the rock he would email the grades and their always seemed to be at least a 10 point positive adjustment to his grades. Ofcoourse if you have a 30 on the test the curve won't help much. What will help is changing study habits.

the tests are curved a good bit. the MPS for our class (3rd semester) and incomming (until they change it again ) is 55-65. So at the least you can expect a 5 point curve or the most is a 15 point. Last semester the final grade in Physiology was curved 13 points.

Neuro,
I believe that the incoming class isn't going to have an MPS. I think it's going to be a raw 70 to pass.

Yes I agree that the people getting raw 30's on the exams aren't going to be helped by the MPS and do need to change their study habbits. But the comment about grades being heavily curved is a bit off, a raw 80 or 90 on the exams is exactlly that, a raw 80 or 90 earned through alot of studying and hard work.

I think that a raw 80 or 90 on the exam would still have the 10-15 points added to it. Please verify your thinking!
