As a parent of a 5th+ semester Ross student let me be the first to congradulate you on your acceptance. Ross is a good school and if you accept some of the minor inconvieniences of living in Dominica and you put your mind in a study mode you should have your MD in four years.

At the moment, I have no idea where I would stay on the island yet. Any suggestions would be helpful..

Studentoflife:
Where you stay depends on several things:
1-How much you want to pay
2-How close to school you want to be
3-how large an apartment you need
4-what convienences you need.
My son paid $500 per month staying in the same place for four semesters. It had a bedroom including a desk a tvand cable. It had a full kithchen including a table, four, chairs and microwave. The landlord lived in the building and makes sure he has only quiet studeous people. The apartment was a 2 minute walk to ROss front gate. There are many similar type units or you can live further from the school for $250-300.

Where did your son stayed? $500 per month sound right to me. How much did your son paid for cable tv? Do they have DSL internet and how much? What about laundry? How much did he paid for water and electricity?

Iknow the island is hell, but it probably is worth it. I know I cried the first week in there when i saw how backward the island was or how I would get sick all gthe time from the dirty food, or the electricity getting cut off or right now when i HAVE TO TELL PEOPLE I did the school in Dominica.....Other names would have sounded sooooooooooooooo much better.....just my two cents...
you almost get used to the island at the end and now they are having Kaplan instructors come to teach after the disasterous performance on the board......it's much better to hire good instructors rather than the old Ross policy of failing 150 out of 300 students EACH semester and charging them tuitions all over....
It is a bit of a stigma to say u got your degree from DeVry, but it sure as hell assure none of the old unprofessionalism....it will get better

Just out of curiosity what do you mean when you say that Ross now has Kaplan instructors teaching the courses? What courses?

Please, if u don't mind what was your average grade on MCAT test, the school has put my file on hold for the MCAT grades 2005, I am really anxious.
Thank you
If I were you, I would try to choose another school. There is so much disorganization that it is eventually affecting the students in the long run. I know it will effect me once I leave the island.
I have some friends at St. Georges and AUC, I would try to go there.
Just my opinion.

Did Ross get your MCAT scores?? When didyoutake the MCAT?
I'm trying to decide if ehmd is actually going to be attending Ross or is he or she is a troll from another school lurking and trying to stir up trouble in the Ross Forum. Please don't be offended by my inquiry. It is very unusual for a newly accepted student to give advice to prospective students to go to another school before they have seen or experienced Ross. If a new student develops an extremely negative attitude this early in the program, it might be a red flag to consider a different school themselves.

This person must be extremely bored or have so much extra time on their hands to try and create trouble at another school they are not attending. I wish I had that much extra time! I would use it for SLEEP!

Sleep is essential for the processing of information and memory. Those who don't sleep will do poorly on there minis. Thats what I have seen at least.... :o

Ross just received my application materials and I am waiting for word on an interview. They said they still have spots for Sept, so do you think I have a chance getting in then? My GPA was 3.65 and MCAT 22, but waiting on my hopefully improved MCAT scores from April 05. Also, how long would it take to get loan checks for Sept if I get accepted in the near future?
