There is no set hours of volunteer experience you have to have. However, if you have done volunteer work it will never hurt and it can make for some interesting conversations during the interview. Many people have different types of volunteer experience. I did hospital volunteering for 2 summers in undergrad. But I spent nearly 2000 hours of volunteer work during undergrad in a community service fraternity and spent my summers volunteering in a youth camp.

i volunteered at a local children's hospital during undergrad all four years. It really wouldn't hurt and it's great to fill out as many boxes on your application as possible, got any research projects by the way?

I don't think volunteer work is so important for SGU, but if you'have done that, it has a great impact on your CV.

Mine was as follow and I am still doing that:

1- 2 yrs volunteer in Rheumatologist practice

2- 6 yrs observing in the OR with the Orthopedic Surgeon

3- 2 yrs of Volunteering in Patient care +300hrs

4- 1 year of Volunteering in Pre-op Day surgery registration +90 hrs

5- Brigade member at St. John Ambulance +300 hrs

6- Memeber of CVP ( Community Volunteer Patrol) in affiliation with the
Guelph Police Service + 80 hrs

7- Observing 60 clinical cases in ambulatory care +15 hrs

8- I cann't remember more.... I was hoping to get into N.A med-schools with all of these....
