UPDATE: DO NOT USE THE BOOKLIST ATTACHED TO THIS POST DUE TO THE FACT THAT IT HAS BEEN UPDATED. -M

As promised, I have attached a Word Document listing the official Official RUSM booklist for Semesters 1 through 4. This has just recenly been released and does include a slight change for those of you who will be in 1st Semester (the new Junqiera [required] vs. Gartner and Hyatt [now recommended).

This list supercedes anything posted on this (ValueMD) or any other website from previous semesters.

My thanks to the University for getting this out early this semester and to Dean Wagner for the part he played in making it happen.

Hi Mitch (and other upper-semesters),

Although most of the second semester books are listed as "required", which ones did you or your friends find the most useful, or you used the most? Would it be better to buy them all? For example, is there even enough time to study all the Anatomy books?

Thanks for your help!

The publication years or the edition numbers are not specified in the list. Is this information required?

Thanks for the long-awaited booklist!

Now, how soon should we ship our books to get there on time?

If you are buying new, always get the newest edition. USUALLY if you buy used you can get one edition old and be okay. For example, in 1st semester it really doesn't matter what edition Embryo your book is (as long as it is recent).

I only buy NEW if I have too! Its money down the drain....

Thanks for the advice Mitch. I was wondering if there will be people selling their used books when I come in September 2003?

Without a crystal ball I cannot predict that. But there are usually upper-term students selling books a day or two before classes start (when they get back).

hey mitch,

today, i received the BIG official booklist and it states that the 'webpath CD' is a required item. What is this item and will i really need it this first semester? It is not even listed in the booklist you provided for us.

also, can you please describe the type of electical outlets in dominica? In other words, what is the shape of the plug supposed to look like? is it an English plug w/ three prongs (two on the side and one above)? I'm just wondering b/c i bought a plugin mosquito repellent thing and it has got 3 prongs and on the back of the box, it says that it can be used in dominica...i just want to make sure.

thanks mitch,

The list I have posted above is the official list directly from the University. It appears as though BIG has modified it to include webpath for 1st semester. DO NOT BUY IT FOR 1st SEMESTER. YOU will only need it for 4th semester.

The plugs are three pronged with big thick prongs. Two short round prongs will also work.

Hope that helps!

Does the book list usually change from semester to semester?

The booklist may change each semester, but usually the changes are quite small if any. In fact it hasn't changed for first semester for quite some time. However, for this semester one of the recommended books for Histology was changed to be the reauired and the required is now listed as recommended. SHORT ANSWER: Yes, it can.

If you are looking for the January list, it will be out about half-way through the September semester. If you buy your books too early, the editions may change or even the required book.

Hope that helps,

MitchDC

Thanks- your answer was very helpful. So basically, I just need to hold my horses and wait a bit for the January list to come out before I order my books... Thanks for the tip!
