I have not officially applied yet to SGU (I am waiting to hear back from the US schools first), however in the event that I do end up applying to SGU, I am considering applying straight to the Jan. 06 class instead of the Aug.05 because of the extra time it will give me for my USMLE studies, etc. Any comments about this way of thinking?

If you want to wait until january, why not start in august and decel? That way you get the same time to study for boards (since you'll end with the jan class), as well as you can take classes over a longer period of time and end up devoting more time to each class? The best of both worlds.
