Help needed here w/ microscope questions...

HEY...

1- Is a microscope REQUIRED for 1st Semester?

2- if so...does anybody know the specifications about what type of microscope and what are the features that it should have?

When I was 1st it was listed as required. Get one thing straight..when they say something is required noone actually checks to see if you have it or not. So the question is..is it needed. My answer is no it is not needed 1st semester. You have a histo lab were slides will be shown to you on a monitor..not required or do you even have time in lab to look at a microscope if you brought one b/c you better be writing down EVERY detail the professor is telling you about the pic on the monitor. Some people did use a microscope on their own time to look at the slides, however, you can get a computer program at the library that has the slides on it. That is what I and most of my classmates did. I did well on the lab exams which are also on a monitor..not microscope.

If you think you want a microscope after you get here..lots of students are always selling used ones for 300..the same one they paid 900-1000 for.
