Ignore pitstar...
You should hear from SMU soon. I would say probably this week if they aren't too busy.

Ignore Pitstar at all cost, but be amused by his ignorance.

What's up adcde,
I know how tense it can get with the application process. Just remember the fact that St. Matt's is doing a ton of prep work for the May semester back on the island. They're busy...besides it took ALOT longer than a week for me to hear from other schools. I'm sure St. Matt's will get to you ASAP. Just hang in there...everything will work out for the best!
As for pitstar...he/she just needs a hug...someone give pitstar a hug! :P

Are you waiting for a response after an interview, or are you waiting to hear about an interview. My application was completed on January 28th, and I didnt hear unti February 15th about my interview.

Just be glad you won't be attending St. Mats. (no wet lab, no proper anatomy, no cafeteria, etc....please stop me now).
There is a wet lab. UCSF and U of M must not have proper antaomy either. And since there are a plethora of food choices on Cayman, a cafeteria is not necessary.

It took about two weeks for my acceptance. I got a call on a saturday, which was a little weird, but i was very happy nevertheless.
I would say wait about two weeks then call the office to see whats going on... Good Luck!

Oh, give me a break, if a "plethora of food choices" invalidated the need for a cafeteria, then no school in the united states or most foreign countries would have one except those out in the rural outposts. and let's don't talk about smu in the same breath as ucsf and u of mich med school. that's just embarassing.

is there a deli or a supermarket or even a small restaurant near the campus where the students can get lunch? i agree with bob, the campus should have a cafeteria. just my opinion.

What's up MDhero and other readers,
There are several restraunts within a VERY short walking distance of the residence hall if you don't have the time, or just don't feel like cooking. If I remeber correctly there are several cafe/diner type places along with a few fast food joints! Hope this helps you out. Later on!

Bob2k,
I'm sorry that you have an issue with our anatomy labs being set up similarly to two US schools. Had I said, "SMU is exactly the same as UCSF and U of Mich", I would understand your acerbic response.
And yes, the food choices do mean there is no need for a cafeteria. Having them is a choice of the school. Who knows what the new campus will have, but there is certainly no need.

No offense to anyone, but I guess I don't understand what the big deal is about a cafeteria. Who want to eat cafe food anyway? We're all adults, why can't we either pick something up or pack a lunch? I just don't think something like this is worth making a big deal about when there are many other serious topics to discuss like lisensure, housing, tuition, classes, residency, etc. In the long run what difference does a cafe make? Just my $.02

Bedazzled,
Couldn't agree with you more! I ate cafe food during my undergrad, and for anyone who hasn't done this...it's not worth it anyhow. You put on at least 20 lbs and the food is painfully average! Wouldn't you wana walk to the grocery store (about 500 yards from RH) get something that tastes better and is better for you? Kudos Bedazzled.

i think a cafeteria in the campus is very important. it is conveniant and a time saver. some people dont like to pack lunch in their bookbags, then your books will smell like pasta, or it'll be too cold to eat at lunch, etcc....some people dont want to travel during the lunch break to get lunch, they would rather go somewhere nearby so they dont have to waste valuable study time. nutrition is very important during concentration and study, therefore a cafeteria would benefit the students at SMU, its a time-saver and also a source of nutrition which are two very important things when studying especially before exams. a cafeteria is just as important as housing, tuition, and classes. just my $.02.

I totally agree...you don't want to go between classes empty stomach with your stomach growling.....   ....plus if you eat good you study better.....and just to save time.....you can catch a meal between class at your cafeteria...unless at SMU they don't care about late commers who went to get food...  .....its important to have a cafeteria.....

Restaurants (cheap) are within 150 yards of the RH. Fidel Murphy's pub is having a all you can eat buffet for lunch at 12$. The salads and other dishes go from 6 to 15 dollars for a good portion of food. The local restaurant next door is even cheaper.
Then you can go to the supermarket where they have hot and cold buffets for very cheap.
At the campus, you have a stand outside on the gazebo for sandwiches and other quick food between 3 and 7$. Otherwise, Miss Joyce, about 30 yards from campus, will give you a full choice of 4-5 main courses for 6 dollars, soda or water included!
