SMU_Information, can you answer these questions when you have a chance.

Are St. Barnabas, Wyckoff Heights, St. Johns, and Penninsula hospitals able to offer all Green cores? On the ACGME web-site it seems that the only core rotations that are ACGME approved in the above mentioned hosiptals are for Internal Medicine.

Will Surgery, OB, Psych and maybe even Peds be available as Green cores in these NYC hospitals?

If so, why are'nt they listed on the ACGME web-site as approved programs?

Thanks!

As far as I know Penninsula is an osteopathic hospital (approved AOA green book).
I don't believe it's a problem, unless you want to practice in PA ot NV.

I'd like to hear from "SMU information" as well.

Thanks

...or Texas.

But yeah, AOA residency areas are as good as ACGME. Do you have a link to the D.O. residencies?

AOA approved is one thing, but ACGME is another for the above mentioned reasons. Also, I'd rather be along side MD students rather than DO ones. I hope not to run around the country after IM to find 'Green' rotations, from my understanding they (SMU) were working towards making NYC 'All Green' for us. In the end, I know AOA is all the same for NY licensure, but I'd rather be at an ACGME approved teaching center for my cores.

SMU's major selling point to New Yorkers is having the convenience of NY clinicals and residency.

Can SMU_Information respond? In another post it was mentioned that we can do all 'Green' cores in NYC besides Pediatrics, how is this so?

We are in the middle of the clincal realignment, but there will be ACGME Peds and Psych this summer in NYC.

I was just curious, since it seems one must go to NYC or UK at this time (in order to complete the Peds and Psych rotations at a greenbook site), are there enough spaces to accomodate the students that want/need to go there? I'm guessing it is probably not a problem if we do the rest somewhere else and just need to go there for two rotations, as this could be done at a variety of different times during the year, but I just wanted to make sure I'm understanding this right. I guess in simpler terms, if I wanted to do Peds and Psych in NYC and then finish Surgery, FP, IM, OB in Saginaw, that would be okay?

For those interested in doing all green, there are eough spots (or rather there will be this summer). We are not stopping with the site this summer, but are continuing to expand the green sites as part of the clinical center plan.
