After getting the book list from BIG, I read that Ross is changing the curriculum to a systems-based thing. I can't assume what they will be doing to our classes or what changes they have made but I would still like to know exactly how this is going to play out. Any help would be appreciated. Also, I believe that my May class will be taking anatomy, neuro and physiology along with the first semester stuff (biochem, histo etc) spread over two semesters, even still that seems like a heavy workload. Well, whatever it is, im ready to bite down and get to work.

if the change is approved, the only change that will happen is to spread biochem and anatomy over 2 semesters.
even though you are taking more classes per semester, you are learning the material at a slower pace. your workload won't be any heavier than any previous semester

that, and they are going to try to coordinate each course such that each one focuses on the same system at the same time. Like, you will be studying the anatomy, histology, biochemistry etc. of the GI system in each course simultaneously.

Thats the way it is in 4th semester. I like it b/c it kind of "puts everything together" when studying a certain subject. For example, the 1st mini is pretty much a majority of cardiology for path, pharm, micro and ICM. It seems easier to learn everything when you get a perspective from each course.

They are spreading anatomy, histology, physiology, and DPS over 1st and 2nd semesters.

This is also very beneficial when it comes to studying for the USMLE step one.

So I take it that all of you guys would go with this new curriculum change over the old way anyday. What could be the negatives of this?
A systems based curriculum is definitely a plus when it comes to studying for Step I. I think most U.S. med schools are on systems-based or are moving towards it.
