yes, I know of 2 so far this year who got residencies in Texas. Also, by the time you graduate (3-4 years) from now, there will be plenty of Ross graduated practicing in TEXAS!!!!!

More details of where and for what field will eventually be posted on the Ross website.

A.i dont know about plenty--that assumes people want to be there (kidding). But if you do a search particularly in the ross forum there is a long thread about licensure of ross students in texas.

Alm2b,

I am from Texas and I was curious as to the 2 people you know who got residencies if you mind to post where in texas and in what field. And let them know that there is one very jealous Texan on these forums! :)

I get lots of questions regarding texas and I am trying to gauge what fields are attainable for USIMGs in Texas. Thanks.

Nimitt,

from what I have read from other people in this forum, it would seem that you wouldnt have a problem getting licensed in texas rite? You going to SGU and all. Just curious.

No I shouldnt have a problem (knock on wood). Licensing is done on a case by case basis for the SGU according to the grads that I have talked to that have Texas License. Its a matter of fulfilling their requirements of paperwork, FP, jurisprudence exam, doing rotations at affiliated hospitals, and did I mention paperwork. I love living in Texas, but in the end I feel like its going to come down to whether the licensing board wakes up on the right side of the bed when they review my file!

About Texas -

I specifically asked Ms Meyer about the rules regarding "affiliated hospital" rotations. She said you dont have to do them in affiliated hospitals, (visiting senior electives, etc), but they have to all be done in ACGME accredited areas.

Did you have other information on this?
