Hey guys,

I'm starting to get anxious about leaving. What about you guys? How are you guys hanging in there? Yet I have so much to do before I leave. On one hand, I'm so excited and ready to leave but on the other I know it is going to be sad to leave the ones I love. What are your thoughts as the days pass towards orientation? I'm going to the doctors this afternoon for the immigration stuff. I'll see you guys in a few weeks.

Hi Fellows,
I am ready to leave even now. I have all I needed and I have packed some of my stuffs in readiness to move down to Cayman.

Even though I know I will miss my friends and loved ones, on a second thought I know it is only for a short while. I hope to make new friends and I will also try and keep bases with the ones i have already.

I am leaving Houston, Texas on the 27th and I hope to see you all. I am blessed to be a member of this family SMU and above all to be a member of a sub family class of 2009!
Go guys and I hope to see all of you by next month.

I am done with my immigration stuff and they got it by January this year. Y'all should tidy your immigration stuffs so that no one will be late.
Long live class of 2009! Long live SMU !

I'm ready to leave as well. I still have to buy books and pack up an apartment (not to mention I have 6 weeks left of work). It's so nasty today in Houston, that I'm just ready to get out of dodge.

doctormob, my wife and I are leaving April 27th out of Houston as well. Are you on Continental?

Hi Fellow Classmates (Class of 2009 in the house!)! :dancepar:

What a nice topic of conversation. I, too, am very much looking forward to meeting all of you on/around April 27th (I should be there on the 27th to move into the Residence Hall/get my bearings before school starts). At this point, I'm in the final stage of securing my TERI loan, in the throes of getting all of the necessary lab tests done for immigration purposes and will be getting my passport in the next couple of weeks (either I'm a slacker or most of you are just way ahead of the game!); one thing is certain: it's been challenging as heck to try to schedule everything around my full-time job in the lab, squeeze appointments in and do all of the necessary running around on my hour lunch breaks (by the time I leave work at around 5-5:30 p.m., the post office and most other resources are closed for the evening :? ). On the other hand, anything that comes easy (I've yet to experience this phenomenon!) is not nearly as fun or quite the impetus.

As far as living arrangements are concerned, I'm on the frustrated side, as no one has really been specific about who will be getting what room in the Residence Hall. All I've been told is that if I turned in my deposit "on time," my request for a single room should be honored; it would be nice to know what that means to the administration and how accurate of a statement it really is. I guess I'd like to feel somewhat in control of the "surprises," as moving out of the country for the first time warrants enough surprises unto itself! Venting...1, 2, 3...venting...

Warm regards, good luck with the last minute preparations and best wishes for a wonderful week ahead! :peepwall:

Just be aware that the residence hall won't be open to move into until April 29 (I have been told 8:00 am). So if you come on the 27th, be prepared to get a hotel room.

Thanks for the info. When I was looking for flights I wasn't sure if I would have to stay in a hotel. I'm coming on April 29.

I've played lacrosse since I was in grade school, and these days leading to my arrival on the island feel like those hours before a game that you know everyone will be watching. You're ready to go, but you know what awaits and that scares you. Anyway, I think I'm ready to hit the road ASAP. I'm really excited to meet all of you in May. See you all soon.

Thank you so much for the correction, "Jeep23Guy!" Speaking of surprises, you saved me from experiencing a potentially stressful and embarassing one! :o
