Do you guys think that the cali dissaproval decision will impact SMU grads getting residencies in other states where SMU is approved like Florida? I'd imagine quite a few residency directors being apprehensive about taking in grads from a dissaproved school even if the dissaproval is from a different state and that residency director has a past history with SMU grads.

The good news is that most program directors do not know anything about the caibbean, other than its a nice place to scubadive and snorkel. I went to Spartan in St. Lucia and when I went to my residency interviews, the PD's just asked about how the education was, where I did my rotations and if I missed the beautiful weather of St. Lucia. So you should be OK.

However, in time this might change. Especially now with the internet being so powerful. I truly hope that your school gets CA approval. It is much better for you in the long run. -s&a

unfortunately (or rather fortunately...) Program directors have nothing to do with getting a permanent license.. getting a residencyy isnt so hard from any of the schools.. as long as u have good board scores ur fine...

getting a permanent license.. well thats when it counts the most... and theres rules that must be met... the scubadiving and snorkelling and the weather at that time will be completely irrelevant... and they wont ask u how ur education was.. they will eval it themselves based on their own criteria..
