Two questions, for anyone that KNOWS the truth... : )
1. If I was to graduate from a school NOT approved by California, but then it was approved after my graduation, would I still be able to practice med in Cali?
2. If i was to transfer to a US school (ex. after 1st or 2nd year), would I be able to practice med in Cali then?
If you know the answers to these questions, I would REALLY appreciate your help.
Thanks.

1. it depends on if the school was retroactively approved or not. so, it is impossible to tell.
2. i am not sure on this one....but, the board does say that all of the med school classes must be completed at an approved school. so, i would guess that if you transfered into a US school from an unapproved school, you would still be out of CA....side note: i cannot think of an unapproved school that would give you a chance of transfering with advanced standing into a US school....
best bet is to call the board. good luck

Neil is correct. Call the board and ask, don't take our word for it.
The problem with retroactive approval is that the board will not guarantee it. Pat Park has been very clear on this point.
Saba for instance (see www.medbd.ca.gov/Saba_Report.pdf on page 9) was approved very recently, however the board adopted the recommendation of the survey team to recognize only those Saba grads who matriculated after January 1, 2002. This means that all those students/grads who attended Saba prior to that date (and according to the document Saba has been in operation since 1993) will not receive California approval.
If you, by some miracle would be able to transfer from a non-approved foreign school to a US school, you would in all likelyhood not be able to get licensed in California. Why? Because the board expressly requires that all of your medical education must be completed at California approved programs.
Again, don't take my word for it; call the board.
