Hello all,
To all my friends who believe that I had disappeared over the past month - I apologize! I was hoping to post, but got caught up in the "wonderful" frenzy of being a first termer in med shcool.
Well, where to begin! We are coming upon the Block II exams. I have been living in the cadaver lab learning every intimate detail about the upper limb!
Block I went well for me. I made sure to spend every evening in the lab from the very first day reviewing what we had done in class that day. I spent time on the weekends reading up on Histo and Embryo.
We were suppose to have Computer Based Testing, but the IT gentleman resigned at the beginning of the semester (a new one just arrived last week and is currently learning the "system!"). The tests are done with scantrons.
The upper classmen are extremely helpful, along with the professors. There is definitely an open-door policy and people will usually go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable academically and emotionally.
I am trying not to ramble, but there are so many thoughts in my head. My wife and I absolutely love the island and the people. The first week is definitely an adjustment with the lost luggage and all. But, just remember, this is not just 20 months spent in a classroom -but a rare opportunity to experience a different culture and lifestyle. After a while, Saba becomes home.
Well, I have to go back and start hitting connective tissue for histo. I shall try and be on atleast once a week. Do not hesitate to ask any questions.
Talk to everyone soon!
