All I know is that the Twinning program at AUA is good as useless. Because you actually didn't complete any education in India, that degree won't do you too much good. At least that's what I've read from the fora.

Do a search on the forums. You should be able to find quite a few threads on it.

I think if AUA is recognized by ECFMG, you can still take the USMLEs, but only as an AUA graduate. In other words, since you're not actually going to study in Manipal, the twinning program is basically like getting another piece of paper that can't be used with respect to ECFMG, etc.

However, I have heard that the twinning program is used by some for loans and such, because Manipal has something that AUA does in terms of having permission to borrow, or something like that. I'm not really sure on that; I have applied to another school, and don't plan on applying to either AUA or Manipal, if I don't get into my first choice. Just my two cents. Someone please do correct me if I'm wrong.

Hello,

There is also another twinning program in Manipal. It is the Melaka-Manipal MBBS Twinning Program. I have been accepted and am starting March. The basic sciences are done at the Melaka-Manipal Medical College(MMMC) in Manipal, India. The clinical sciences are done the MMMC campus in Melaka, Malaysia. MMMC is listed in IMED and WHO directories. Graduates are eligible to sit for USMLE exams and ECFMG certification. Check their site out: http://www.manipal.edu/melaka/index.htm
