I need help in figuring out a transcript issue. I have submitted all of my application material thus far with the exception of one transcript from a college that I went to while I was in the military. I only took 4 classes at this college and I did OK in each of them. Here is my problem. I have been trying to get them to send out my transcripts and they informed me today that they have NO transcripts or information on me ever attending their school. Luckily I received my undergraduated degree from a different school and as a matter of fact, they actually sent my transcripts to them back in '99 when I transfered. Since it's a requirement that ALL transcripts from prior schools be forwarded what can I do about this? Will this keep me out of medical school or will the admissions comittee notice that on my present transcripts I did attend this school and did succesfully since the grades transferred? It's a tough position and I don't know where to go from here.

Are you closely located to the college that cannot find the transcript? Sometimes when you appear face-to-face with them, all of a sudden they come up with it.

If they have actually lost the transcript, do you have any evidence, such as grade reports or tuition statements from them? You may have to get a letter from the college stating that they have misplaced your transcript.

If you had to provide a different school with a transcript from the university that lost the records, you may be able to retrive it through the school you provided it to in the past. It would be second hand, but none-the-less, you'd at least have a copy of it.

If they truly lost it, perhaps you can get a letter from their administration.

I had an interesting situation when I went back for a degree...the University of Pensylvania thought my college of nursing kept my transcript, and my college of nursing thought that the U of P kept my transcript. I literally had NO transcript, and in order to get an advanced degree, it necessitated taking CLEP tests to prove my knowledge in about 48 credits of material. This error went on for 2 years, so anyone in two classes had to go through my same inconvenience. The nursing school no longer exists, so a class-action law suit is not possible to retrieve any lost $. My lesson well learned: save all records.

The good thing is that the school that I transferred to does have a copy of my transcript from the previous school however, will the admissions office accept that?
