yeah the cellphone service is pretty reliable here, u can pick from Digicel, AT&T or Cable and Wireless. When u 1st termers come, they will have specials on a lot of phones and they will even be on campus. I bought a nice Nokia 2600 for only 85 EC.

Got a cell from AT&T here in St. Vincent for 65EC which included a 10EC phone card. I'd imagine it would be similiar in Grenada. It was 120ECsomething for Digicell. If you bring down a phone from the North America, expect to pay 25-30EC for the SIM card and make sure it is a phone they carry SIM cards for (someone else can give you more info on that). FYI, AT&T and Digicell historically have better signal strength and reception than Cable and Wireless. However your grenada Digicell phone will work in grenada and st. vincent with no changing of SIM cards (roaming in st. vincent) but our AT&T phones required a St. vincent SIM card before they worked here, and then when went back to grenada, AT&T phones with st. vincent SIM cards didn't work. Cable and Wireless is here in St. Vincent too but i don't know how good the signal strength is. Just some info to help you make the most of your investment.

Digicell has been having really crappy signal all week - my phone constantly says "No network" or "Emergency Only..." Only if I power it down, and then power it up somewhere outside, away from all buildings do I get maybe 1 bar of signal... I was actually thinking about switching to AT&T because I am just getting fed up... I'll just keep the Digicel card for Vinnies and hope it works better there...

I just brought along a crappy old phone from home and it works fine.
Phone service here is better than anywhere in the US.

Hmm, you obviously don't have a Nextel :-) I don't know what phone company you have at home, but they don't tend to deliate their coverage maps "outdoor coverage" and "in-car coverage." (Note no indoor coverage.) :-)

I bought a Nokia Digicell for US$39. I've had no problems with Digicell at all. It's very rare that I can't get a signal.

I am not the only one? The number of duplicate threads re: cell phones, scrubs, books, applications/interviews, etc is amazing. People just don't do a quick search to find that the answer that they are looking for has already been posted (a few hundred times.)

LOL, thats so funny. You are right, I never do a search. When I have a question, I impertuosly post it. I guess things change all of the time and I dont want to read old information even if it is only a week old. Well if we kept reading old posts we would probably never have anything to say I guess

Do the search for them and post the results. Most people seem alright with that and you'll save lots of time.
