Seat Deposit Question

Does SMU charge $500 for seat deposit and a $500 room deposit?
I would appreciate some clarification.

They sure do. Make sure you return your seat deposit within ten working days from your date of acceptance as this will secure your seat for an upcoming semester. Neglecting this seat deposit fee may jeopardize your acceptance to SMU. As for the room deposit fee, I believe that is due thirty days prior to matriculation. I hope this helps.

For the 500 admission deposit, i would let JP answer this.
For the RH deposit, it is a refundable deposit, same kind as an apartment.
Since you will be entering a room with brand new furniture, it is normal i believe that we take a deposit in case some damages are made to your room.
When you will arrive at the Residence Hall, you will be given a inventory form. You will have to fill that form and notify of any damages.
Same thing will happen when you vacate the room.
