View Full Version : visa question - when coming before the classes
Hi, I got accepted into the fall semester, but my husband and I are trying to move to the island sometime soon. My husband is getting a job there and has no trouble with his visa, but I was wondering what visa status I should get. Will SMU supply a visa to a prospective student a way before the commencement of the actual classes in this case? Or will I have to ask my husband's employer to somehow fit me in with them? I'm not intending to work at all in the island.
Thank you for any insights.

Hello,
As I emailed back to you already, if your busband will get a work permit before you are a student on the island, he can ask his employer to put any family members on his WP.
Unfortunatly, SMU cannot issue a student visa unless you are a student on the island.
The other way would be to come with your husband under a tourist visa, but depending on the stamp you get at the airport, you might have to renew it. Renewal is 50KY$.
I think it will be a great experience for you to get to know the island before you start school.
See you soon
