If you spot any errors, please let me know.

The official allowance to PR is 2 @ 70 lbs each + 1 40lb carry on

The official allowance to Grenada is 2 pieces, combined weight of 70 lbs

Generally, people get away with the 2 @ 70 lbs each by checking in their luggage to Grenada (at point of exit). There may be problems with luggage getting there on time with this approach, so keep a few days worth in your carry-on.

According to AA.com, the limitations for the carry on are as follows:
The one carry-on bag must fit in an overhead compartment or under the seat. It should not exceed 45 linear inches (length + width + height) or weigh more than 40 lbs/18 kgs.

I recently took a trip to London and was allowed a duffel bag and bookbag as carry on. I know that ladies are allowed a handbag, but I am not sure how strict they are with bookbags and men. Maybe someone with experience can chime in.

Good luck to all.

Sounds about right... I did that my first time down... One of my suitcases was left in PR until a lighter plane could be found (about 4 days later.)

You're going to wear a suit for the ceremony? I was going to bring a dress shirt/tie, and maybe a blazer if there was space. Do most ppl wear suits?

Just when I was thought I had everything set to go....lol

Maybe you should keep your suit in your carry-on. I'll definately be putting my outfit for the ceremony in my carry on.

For the White Coat Ceremony, shirt/tie is sufficient. Just too hot for a suit!

i'm wearing a 2 piece suit but i might leave the blazer here and just take my slacks and shirt and tie, I always forget that its going to be 80 there when it is like 5 degrees here.

Hi guys,

I called the AA customer service today to clarify the baggage wt regulations. I had explained to the lady that I will be flying from PR to Grenada on their American Eagle line. As per customer service lady, each passenger is allowed 2 check-in luggages at no more than 50 lbs apiece (total 100 lbs max) plus 1 carry-on @ no more than 40 lbs.

There has been conflicting info on the forum boards but this is the info I got straight from them.

See you guys soon.

Hi emt,

Thanks. I guess I have to go repack. Better that I found out now than having to decide what to toss out at the airport!

Np... was picking up students at the airport tonight, and as usual, many people missing bags. Hopefully, by staying with the limits, you'll get all yours :-)

And the gate agents in whatever city you are coming from won't know about the special Grenada restrictions, so they will check your bags through - no need to toss anything out at the airport, but it just won't make it on the AAEagle out of SJU.
