About 3 years back, my cousin told me that if I would go to an off-shore medical school , I will save a lot of money. At that time, I think it was true.
But today I read that going to a US medical school will save more money. This shows that more and more off-shore schools are fuctioning and they are trying to pull big$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.
But I think it won't last long.We r all aware that Medachiever is gone.Teri is the only hope and if the same would happen to Teri, most of us would have no options.
So just wait n see.

It’s true that the chance for an IMG to get loans in US is getting slimmer and slimmer.....if everyone had an opportunity to attend US medical school as desired then all theses offshore medical schools won't be in existence. It’s just about one's determination to become a doctor..and there is always the option to apply to banks for line of credit.

If I could have gotten into my state school, I would have paid less for my entire medical education than I did for 4 semesters at Saba. Still, Saba is the next least expensive school I could have attended. If you consider the cost of most Caribbean schools with the cost of the average private school in the US, you'll see that the Caribbean is slightly less expensive in terms of tuition. Cost of living, etc. varies.
It is pure folly however to base your decision solely on cost. A US education will almost always be less expensive in the long run (or at least well worth the additional payment). As a US grad you will automatically have more doors open to you in terms of Residency and practice.
Don't get me wrong. I am very proud and happy to attend Saba, but if any of us had gotten admitted into a US or Canadian school it would have been "hasta la vista baby".
Best of Luck!
