Hello
I am a sophmore in undergrad right now and am looking to apply for internships and such. Most of the things I have found to apply for all repeat this question "Why are you interested in medicine as a profession?" Now is there a right or wrong answer to this question? And I also realize that answering this question as "I've always wanted to be a doctor" or "I like to help people" just aren't good enough reasons. How would you recommend I answer this question or approach it? I haven't had any major life changes that have made me want to become a doctor!
thanks

Maybe you could try the up front and honest approach, and actually start out with the line I haven't had any major life changes that have made me want to become a doctor
.
This would grab attention. And then you could add how medicine fires you up, how you like studying medicine, etc. Perhaps you could give examples of how you helped out in a medical or similar situation and really enjoyed the experience, even if it was just passing out band-aids to little kids or something. Tell what inspires you, or who's foot steps you would like to follow in, etc.
Just an idea to help you brainstorm. Perhaps you should ask whoever teaches creative writing at your school, or a professor you get along with well for examples also.
Good luck!

"...Medicine fires you up..."
I think that might be the best thing you could say. People want to know that you are passionate about medicine. They want to know that you are in it for its own sake, that you cannot imagine doing anything else.
As for the "right thing to say", just be yourself.
Best of Luck!
