I like to wish all of you happy new year,I hope this year will bring peace to this world and positive year for the alumni.Spartan forum became the fighting grounds with many comes here from other forums to attack each others, many starts rumors, others puts us down,..etc and the anger also translated into action by sending untrue and unfair comments to government officials but none of us interested even to send our pointviews to such officials and hoping the school will take care of such issues, all of you under the mercy of students here,non-physicians,and unsuccessful few.
I myself decided to discuss the issue with my lawyer who also used to be the general counsler for major state board[experienced] and ask him to write a letter from "concerned alumni" who did everything other international graduates did and more, but someone must take the responsibility to protect our rights,we became like the abused wife took abuse for years until one day said enough is enough.you can't be under the mercy of students even they come now from some E Europeans schools to insults all of us,some state officials calling us people with no sense[basically stupid],among other insults.
My problem is I know too much and not relying on internet info,I was student at the Medical school in Lebanon and due to civil war immigrated to US,my best friends at Spartan were transfer from Basra and Baghdad and discussed English language poor education in Iraq, and why going far ,my cousin got into the Lebanese University with ok GPA ,graduated with high scores, was unable to pass exams until recently[when I helped him] due to poor education at this under funded univ, studied in English, and was split program[clinicals at private poor quality hospital not Univ Hosp/split program basic sciences/clinicals like the carribeans],did exactly what I did except I passed all boards and did residency and fellwship,my question to the officials why I am discriminated against and he is not,Discriminate agianst both of us or treat us equally[to be honest I never had any discrimination issues myself but my concerns based on what I see and read even in articles discussing criminal acts Alumni has nothing to do with it].I was also during my career working as consultant for major US overseas hospital and was not allowed to hire physicians from over a dozen countries due to poor standards and if to hire specialist lets say from India or Syria they are hired as assistants not attendings.
Spartan has hundreds of grads that decided to be low key so others would not send their directors negative comments to destroy their careers and that is understandable ,even last week I read about a person who spend his weekend to search all MD's to find alleged CA licensed MD so they can destry his/her career as if they are looking for "America's most wanted"!
Send your views to your officials, the AMA,FSMB,ECFMG,your professional organization because your silence will only destroy you,we do not have to pay high price on the basis of medical education recieved over 20 years ago even before the approve/none approve drama started for certain group.
From sitting in so many committes since 1983 I learned one thing if someone wants to have things his way all he/she has to say "I am concerned" and people do not like to take responsibility so they make new rules even if such rules applies to small groups and the concern much greater in other places.
