Faculty of Med in HKU has >100 yrs of history. It is heavily subsidized by the govt. so tuition is very reasonable. Most or all students are HK nationals. I had classmates from Singapore but all of them are Hongkongers who went there for hi school and came back for med school. 5 yr MBBS + 1 yr of internship to complete degree. Very difficult to get into even for HK applicants. I am not sure about their policy of accepting foreign students. Very few people take USMLE but those who took it actually found it quite easy. Even "mediocre" students got >90. Excellent teaching but very tough. I guess the curriculum is much more reasonable now since they adopted problem-based learning.

I have also heard that it is really hard to gain entry into HKU, especially for non HKers. Have you considered any of the schools next door in Guangdong province? I know Jinan (www.jnu.edu.cn) has a program that is offered in English, as well as one in Liaoning Province, up in Shenyang.
