I sent in my application in october for the may 2005 spot and it allowed me to get in. I would say the earlier the better in case there are classes that they want you to take or things that you need to brush up on.

just put it for your first choice and they will give it to you. Gardner is really good about things like that.

I applied in November 2002 for May 2003... I was late... and I got in. Although the sooner you apply, the easier it will be to get your first choice.

Is it too late to apply for the May 2005 class?

ummmm... I think you are late... but you should give it a shot anyways, cause they always have 1 or 2 spots left for late commers.... Make your first choice May, and your second Sept. Also, the faster you get them everything (obviously sending monday by fedex, or 3 day ground may be your best bet). However, they will not review your application till everything including transcripts are received, so if you haven't requested a transcript be sent, then you better get on that!

Thanks for the response. Can I just include my transcripts (in the university foil-sealed envelope) with the rest of my application? Doesn't May typically have the fewest number of applicants, and therefore, the smallest classes?

The class size is about the same every semester, and as long as the transcripts are in a UNIVERSITY SEALED ENVOLOPE then you are fine I think. Hurry and get them there.
I do think though that they get less applications for May then September for sure!

I also sent in my Transcrpits with the rest of my application. It seemed to work fine.

Hi, I just had my phone interview for September 2005, and they indicated to me that I could matriculate earlier in the May semester. So I know that class is not full yet.
As for transcripts, I just sent copies of mine. I've been accepted. I will now follow up with official ones sent from the school.
I think the best way to send the application is to have everything included in your original mailing; application, money order, recommendations, copies of transcripts, photos. I did it that way and from the time of mailing to acceptance was about 3 weeks. Getting your application in bits and pieces will definitely slow your approval down.
Hope that helps,
Bigguy

What do you mean by that? I called up the Gardner office and they said it'd be fine if my transcripts came from the school, and the recommendation came from the professors. In fact, if one were to be accepted, wouldn't it be easier to have requested the official transcripts in the first place, and gotten letters directly from the professors?
Just wondering, that's all.

He probably means that he did it in a similiar way that I did. Being a control freak, and not trusting others with my application, I submitted everything in a big manila envelope.
The transcripts were in an official sealed university envelope, the letters of recc. were sealed with he professors signature across the seal to prove I hadn't read them, and I included my application, essay, photos in with that stuff and mailed it off certified mail - return receipt. I didn't fed ex the envelope over night, though I thought about it.
Sometimes you hear horror stories about professors never sending in letters even though they said they did and you gave them a stamped, addressed envelope with typed instructions on what to do, particularly if they think you may not be "med-school material". Sometimes you hear that school offices don't send the transcripts like they say they will, and you have to ride their ***** to get 'em to do it. I didn't want to give people the chance, as I just knew that my university would do just that.

Ah, I see. At first I thought that the admissions office would actually look down at it, or "slow approval."
Another reason I decided to apply so early...I think I may be one of the first applicants for the Jan 06 class :P
Though I'm sure we're allowed to call up the registrar's offices and professors to make sure they've been sent, and call professors, right? :P[/i]

I'm definately not in YET  :P for Jan 06. I just sent out my application this past week. I'll post any updates, though. The admissions office said about a year ahead of time would be the earliest, so if I were you, I'd wait till the actual month of May.
Maybe you should call up the Gardner office, they're really nice! I'm sure they will lead you in the direction that you might want to head towards.

cool, thanks.
man, i can't believe how friendly and helpful everyone is here. i gotta tell ya, that's been a significant influence on me making saba my #1 choice. when i first started looking into offshore schools, some of my experiences on these forums lead me away from the "big 3". Ross sounds downright scary, AUC's party rep concerns me that peers won't take you seriously, and SGU has all the unsuccessful U.S. premeds that are so neurotic about being a doc that they're willing to pay out the a$$ for school.
then you've got saba flyin' under the radar. cool, calm, collected. nobody makin' waves, sounds like a good med school atmosphere.

 My sentiments exactly. Be careful saying stuff like that on the SGU forum though. I just got a bunch of hatemail in my PM for suggesting Saba might be a good deal for those going into primary care compared to SGU. 8)
